Recently the group has been involved in preserving God's creation in the following ways.:
- In August of 2006 they led Ridge UMC in a collection of more than 800 pairs of used shoes – some for
redistribution and some for recycling. This effort kept them out of landfills. This year more than 1400
pairs of shoes were collected as Ridge UMC partnered with Community Hospital and Fitness Pointe to
collect shoes. - The group has helped encourage RUMC to switch to Fair Trade coffee as a way to aid both the earth
and the many workers in third world countries who are exploited by the systems of coffee production. - In December the group coordinated a collection of broken Christmas lights and extension chords for
recycling.
Additionally the group is responsible for:
- Coordinating additional environmental outreach programs
- Managing the pop tab collection for Ronald McDonald House.
