Education is one of the nurturing ministries of the United Methodist Church, and our beliefs put great emphasis
on the need for Christian education throughout one's life. At Ridge United Methodist Church, our goal is to
provide a firm educational foundation, so that the desire to learn will continue into adulthood. There
are several interesting and enjoyable ways of gaining a greater understanding of God in our daily lives, with
classes designed to fit every need.
The Children’s Ministry Team coordinates educational programs for all children and youth at Ridge United
Methodist Church. Our hope is that you will find a class that will interest you!

What does Ridge United Methodist Church offer?
Sunday School for Children
During the school year we offer Sunday Morning Education for children from 3-5th grade. Each of these
classes are open to all God's children.
Pre-School (ages 3-5) - 9:45 am
Mr. Bob and Mrs. Kim are ready to help even the youngest learner learn how much God loves and cares for
them. This class uses the “Hands on Bible Curriculum," to connect kids to Jesus in fun, unforgettable ways!
Kindergarten thru 5th Grade - 9:45 am
“Living God’s Word Self Esteem” is the title of the current rotation. This unit uses the Bible story included in
Mark 10:46-52. Each of us is a child of God, created in God’s own image. We are loved by God not because
of what we can do but because of who we are. As God’s children, we can use God’s gifts to share God’s love
with others. Each week the classes experience the same story using a different method of learning such as
drama, cooking, science and computers. Topics change every 6 weeks. A special “Bible Buck” Sunday is
held at the end of each 6 week session. Children can cash in their Bible Bucks for cool prizes. Bible Bucks
are given each week for attendance, bringing their Bible or bringing a friend to visit.
Confirmation
Our Confirmation class is taught every other year for students who have completed the sixth grade. This
program provides an opportunity for youth to engage their faith, work one on one with a mentor, and to
ultimately claim the name "Christian" for themselves. This class will again be offered starting in the fall of 2008.

free Vacation Bible School to the families in our community. With the help of more than 50 adults and youth

Adult Scripture Discussion Class at 9:45 a.m.
Using the scriptures as its guide, this class focuses on God's societal values along with bringing
justice to our world.

A place for women looking for warm relationships with other women, relevant information about God
and the Bible and encouragement in facing the challenges of daily life.

Class meets Thursdays 7-8 a.m.
Men have their own set of fears, joys, emotions, and issues. Wisdom tells us to gather together with
other men to study how the Bible applies specifically to a man's heart and life.
