The purpose of the Caring Ministries of Ridge Church is to care for everyone who comes though our doors.
Dare To Care
A group of caring members who meet weekly to write notes of encouragement and appreciation to our
church family and friends.
Membership Care
A ministry which provides transportation, meals and visitation to those
who occasionally need assistance.
Prayer Ministry
"My house shall be called a house of prayer" -Matthew 21:13
If you want or need prayer – either prayers for help or healing or prayers of joy and gratitude for God's love
and blessings – we will pray on your behalf:
• If you wish, we can include your request on our list of prayer concerns in the weekly Sunday bulletin. You
need not necessarily identify the person that needs prayers or the exact nature of the problem; you can ask,
for instance, for prayers for one of your neighbors who is having serious medical problems. God knows what
you are talking about. To include your request on the Bulletin list, call (219-838-4770) or e-mail
ridgeumc@sbcglobal.net
• We can also include your prayer request in our Prayer Wheel and E-mail Prayer Network. The Prayer
Wheel communicates the prayer request by telephone; it is a network of Ridge Church members, organized
into a phone tree. The E-mail Prayer Network takes the electronic approach; it is a circle of volunteers who
check their e-mail regularly for prayer requests. Again, you can be as specific or as general as you wish in
describing your joy or concern; all requests are confidential. To enter your request, contact the church office
(219-838-4770) or e-mail your request to ridgeumc@sbcglobal.net.
Prayer Blanket Ministry
This ministry offers members and friends the opportunity to purchase a lightweight prayer blanket to give to
individuals who need to know that they are being surround in the love of God through prayer. Blankets are
available in assorted colors and can be personalized with the recipient's name for $12.00 each. Completed
blankets are then prayed over by various groups in the church before they are delivered. Order forms are
available at the church or by calling the church office.
Tape Ministry
At Ridge Church, we record our Sunday morning services on audio tape. Audio tapes are duplicated and
delivered weekly to shut-ins. Additional tapes are available at the church to anyone who may have been out
of town or missed the service. If you are homebound and would like to receive a recording of our weekly
service, please contact the church office. Audio Tape players are also available to borrow if you don’t own
one.
Homebound Communion
Homebound Communion is served to homebound members on Communion Sundays. Volunteers are
provided with boxes containing bread and juice that has been blessed, as well as an abbreviated service of
Holy Communion. Each team then visits one or more homebound member who has requested communion.
Most visits take place on the first Sunday of the month after the 11:00 worship service.
Funeral Luncheons
Ridge Church offers this ministry to families of members of Ridge UMC following a funeral or memorial
service. Volunteers are asked to prepare a salad, a dessert or to help serve.
